
Anthony David Gonzalez was born on February 27, 1976 in Torrance, California. He was raised in southern California and was a student at Huntington Beach High School, where he was a top player on both the football and basketball teams. Gonzalez excelled in these sports at the University of California. He led the team in football into the 1996 Aloha Bowl, where he broke the record of the school bowl with nine receptions. Gonzalez later led the basketball team to Sweet 16 in the NCAA basketball tournament a few weeks later. Gonzalez went on to the NFL Draft in 1997. The Kansas City Chiefs chose Gonzalez as their 13th overall selection. Gonzalez was a player for the Chiefs from 1997 until 2008. The Chiefs sold Gonzalez to the Atlanta Falcons. He never caught fewer than 59 passes during Gonzalez's second NFL season.
